The Brain is an amazing thing. Every
SECOND, there are more than 100,000 chemical reactions that take place inside
the human brain. New research projects are working towards further examining of
all of the great number of neural pathways with in the brain –how they work,
how they work together, what they do, and what they are capable of.
In this research, scientists have
begun to open to door to direct brain to
brain communication. Studies have even be able to control subject’s brains remotely,
by stimulating brain impulses in another subject and communicate information
directly between subjects.
Alvaro Pascual-Leone, MD, PhD,
director of the Berenson-Allen Center for Noninvasive Brain Stimulation at Beth
Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical
School explain, the team was able to do so by “Using a combination of
internet-connected electroencephalogram and robot-assisted, image-guided
transcranial magnetic stimulation (which, as the name suggests, uses
electromagnetic induction to stimulate the brain from the outside), the team
was able to communicate words from one human to another.”
